Built against the elevator shafts, the wall covers eight by eight meters and hosts tropical plants: orchids, carnivorous plants, ferns, bromeliads and mosses.
The pond contains papyrus, banana plants, tree ferns and water lilies. Fish like piranha's, danio's and sheat-fish maintain the biological balance to keep maintenance and human intervention at a minimum.
The planting done on moisturized tree fern root combined with non-stop misting achieves the right humidity. Six lamps (12.000 Watt) give the plants optimum light. Too high humidity levels automatically adjust, ventilators blow heated air if necessary.
Maintenance at a higher level
At Vivaria we aim for the best maintenance of our products; sometimes our Special Projects call for creative interventions. While the construction of the building was planned, Vivaria was already involved in some of the construction-meetings. Besides planning-agreements on the actual construction of the green-wall (constructing the wall, installing the lighting-system, water purification-system and finally putting up the plants; we delivered this project complete "turn key"), we also discussed future maintenance of this special project.
Because of the exceptional height of this green-wall, we were facing the following questions. How can you cut and replace plants at 7 meters height in the interior of an office building? What is the smallest mobile crane that can reach up to 7 meters? What type and size of door allows easy entrance of such a crane? Thanks to intensive cooperation with the construction-committee of the contractor Ballast Nedam we found the best solutions.
Now we maintain this green wall twice a year. In just one day, we manage it without difficult constructions. To be honest, it is a delight to easily cut your way through a jungle in an office surrounding.
We hope you like this example of our services and get the message; plan your green projects together with us. Contact us in the construction phase of your building and not as a last detail.
Let us be creative together
