We have built the green-wall at the Product Board
for Horticulture in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands.

Different scenes

We built this tropical rain forest of 16 meter high behind a staircase, and covers four floors. People that climb the stairs can experience a completely different scene at every floor. They can see, touch and smell a wide variety of orchids, bromeliads, ferns and mosses. On the ground floor of the building, a swampy pool attracts the attention. Here carnivorous (meat eating) plants coexist with tree ferns, one of the last survivors of the dinosaur period.

Technique

All this abundance of green is climate controlled. Special lighting at every staircase ceiling takes care that the plants grow independently of (the) daylight. Our famous "Basic Misting System" mounted on every floor provides the right humidity along the wall without wetting the people that are climbing the stairs. General humidity slightly increased, in combination with the negative ions that the plants produce, increases the well feeling for everybody who works or visits the Product Board.
The tap water that enters the system is treated by a Reversed Osmoses filter.
It takes care that not only calcium deposits but also take out potential harmful bacteria and viruses of the tap water system.
