One of our Special Projects consists
of an open aquarium with a green-wall.


 

Construction of the open aquavivarium

We constructed the aquarium (300x90x70 cm) without using any stabilizers at the top rim. A coal-filter filters the water mechanically and aerobe bacteria in the green-wall filter it biologically. A reversed osmosis system refreshes 10% of the water every day. Fine nozzles spray the whole system every two hours to keep humidity at 80%.

The AquaVivarium is lit by five 150 Watt HQI lamps mounted in the ceiling. In the evening, five halogen lamps take over the lighting to create a more intimate atmosphere.

We planted the green-wall with orchids, ferns, bromeliads and mosses. In the water, we have used Cryptocoryne, Anubias and Nymphea.
